The Phantom Rider

It's been a wet old week in Sydney and what with the rain and school holidays, there's been little time to go on the search for chic citizen cyclists.  One has to make do with fleeting moments like this, snapped from the snug warmth of a cafe while escaping the rain.

More Cycleway Chic ('cause we can't get enough...)

Shiny happy people on Bourke Street in what we thought were the last days of Summer, or were they?
And yes I really DO try to get out of Surry Hills, honest, but as Michael Corleone said "Just when I thought I was out, they pull you back in..."
I can't seem to escape.

Grower's Market Cycle Chic

I've been doing some street style pics for lush new bike mag Treadlie and luckily for me some haven't made it in to the current issue so here they are!

First up is Jess and her Papillionaire at Everleigh Markets.

Jess Pace at Everleigh Markets

And Evelyn and her upcycled trout fishing basket - brilliant idea for a pannier - there's something so right about an English Pashley and trout fishing.....

Growers Market Chic

Sydney's foodie scene is huge and it seems growers markets are cropping up everywhere.  One of my favorites is Everleigh Markets, every Saturday at Carriageworks.
Apart from being a great place to catch up with friends over a coffee and croque madame from Bird Cow Fish, it's produce heaven and what better way to transport your organic fruit and veg and Yulla chocolate mousse than by bicycle?!?

Allison Heller at Everleigh Growers Market

I met the brilliant Allison there on her Electra Townie.  A woman after my own heart, she tweets about sustainability (@urbanaffect) and has a great consultancy specialising in urban and social planning - check out her website here.

Another Convert!

penny and the vintage bike

My neighbour Penny testing out one of my "inherited" vintage bikes, the first time on a bike since she was a teenager.
"Ha ha ha ha, wow it's great, I'd forgotten.  I feel like a big kid again!".
I'm paraphrasing but you get the basic idea.  Feels good - one girl, one bike at a time.....

Lawlessness in the Pursuit of Edible Delights

I often see good friend and Sydney food blogger Tanja cruising carefree through Surry Hills on her Velorbis on the hunt for some seasonal deliciousness or other.
Even better when she brings something in to the office for tasting!

Spotted - James at Customs House

IMG_3771_2          James at Customs House

It's great to start the day with some early morning commuter cycle chic.  I spotted James on the street near my home a few weeks ago when I was grocery shopping and of course was too slow to take a photo so it was great to bump into him again today.  And such a easy subject on his Gazelle......

I love being surprised by a little commuter cycle chic first thing in the morning.  That aqua Gary Fisher bike with Thea's purple shoes - chicalicious.  Hope you come ride with us Thea !

Snapped - Amity on train

Amity  Amity

This is a common image in many cities but here in Sydney, on a busy train commute at the end of a long day seeing a little cycle chic is like a breath of fresh air !
