This brilliant film shot on Super 8 echoes those old Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin silent films. It follows an NYC bike messenger as he is derailed from delivering an urgent package by an alluring female cyclist.

Ride to Work Day 2011
I think the 'normally" attired riders must have just ridden to work and not stopped off in Hyde Park for a free banana because they sure as hell weren't where I was. Apart from these lot that is.
And Alacoque - riding to work AND pregnant - go you!!
One day, images like this may not be such a rarity....
Nice to catch up with the lovely Sarah Wilson again too. She's been running a campaign to ride a bike over at her blog and has long been a voice for the non-sport, single speed, normal clothes wearing riders amongst us - check out her blog here.

Launched!
Last Saturday saw the launch of the Bicycle Film Festival / Sydney Rides Festival in Sydney and what a great way to start.
We had a stall (our first ever) at the Street Fair and had a blast chatting with all our bike friends and blinging bikes. Great to meet so many Twitter/Facebook followers too - always love putting faces to names :-)
We delivered everything by cargo bike too - well I say we. The lovely and talented Mr Chic delivered everything (including child) and I rode leisurely along behind on my newly revamped white vintage step-through.....
I was also beside myself with joy seeing so many happy punters buy our new T Shirts and bags. They've been in the works for a while so brilliant to see them walking around the Fair on real people!
We're in the process of setting up the online store but in the meantime if you want one drop me an email.
They're organic cotton, fair trade, made in a factory powered by green energy and we think they are pretty damn hot - available in mens/womens slimfit in white and dark grey for now but more colours coming for Summer.
It was about time Sydney joined the other new bike cities with these T Shirts - London started 'em, Barcelona has 'em..... Melbourne you're next!

Oh Happy Day
What a fun day we had last Sunday with our bike craft workshop in the Happy Talk House. The bamboo bike crates looked gorgeous as did the ones made from re-purposed irrigation pipe crates. It was so wonderful to see everyone interpret the basic design in their own way.
We were so inspired that we've started work on a range of re-purposed timber crates too so if you're at the Sydney Rides Festival Street Fair this weekend, stop by the Cycle Chic stall for a sneaky preview.
Now I just want to see all these crates on bicycles and some flower wheels riding around Sydney!

More clichés than you can poke a stick at and gratuitous boob shots but hey the soundtrack is good and it's nicely shot in black and white and I'm a big fan of their jeans. It also features bicycles so..... we all know sex sells bikes right?

Happiness Is a Repurposed Bike Crate
So we're very excited to be doing a workshop as part of the brilliant Happy Talk project during Art and About Sydney.
Our brief - resourceful, environmentally aware cycle chic bike accessories with a Pacific twist. Easy.
I've been wanting to make bike crates for a while so we expanded on that by coming up with designs that are entirely sustainable. Other than the cable ties everything has been sourced from repurposed, recycled and recovered materials - hell even the transport was sustainable thanks to the cargo bike and the power tools were charged using 100% green energy.
My new white bike was recovered and given a new lease of life too and I am completely in love so expect a Cycle Chic Bike Restoration Workshop soon.
If you'd like some floral wheels to brighten up your day or have a hankering for a cute bamboo bike crate decorated with shells and flowers to stash your bikini in this Summer, we hope you and your bike can make it to the workshop tomorrow!
I have power tools too - don't mess with a woman and her jigsaw...
